LGBTQIA Ghana solidarity group move to protest to Ghana High Commission in UK.

LGBT+ community organize protest at Ghana High Commission in London against anti-LGBTQIA bill.

The pricest was held on Saturday against “The Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2021”.

This is a bill some eight MPs submitted to parliament in June.

LGBTIQIA already as we know is illegal in Ghana.

The eight MPs seek parliament reinforcement to make no room for the promotion or sponsorship of LGBTQIA in the country

They describe the bill as a “homophobic and anti-human right” where they preach hate instead of love.

The protest in UK happen Saturday, August 21, 2021 after arrest and detention of some 21 people in Volta regional capital, Ho in May for “unlawful assembly” but were later freed from the court.

The Ho arrest happen just after raid of some apartments at Accra by the police because they believe that the LGBT+ people want to open office in Ghana.

This matter draw international attention where Ghanaian folks in UK organize protest in solidarity.

The LGBQ+ issue is serious matter in Ghana as the current speaker of parliament expressed that they will do everything possible to make sure Ghana culture hold supreme.

Some members of the LGBT+ community says their life is at risk following their involvement in open campaigns.

The protestors numbering about 150 at the premises of Ghana High Commission in UK hold placards with inscription such as “Our love is not un-African”. Another one says “UK solidarity with LGBTQ.
