Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta and his wife Angela Ofori Atta built a six-room apartment and handed it over to the Kyebi Government Hospital in the eastern region. This building was built through the founding of Ken and Angela OforiAtta under the auspices of Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin.
The grant ceremony took place in Kyebi on Friday, August 13, 2021. Barima Kwaku Duah of Etwienanahene of Akyem Abuakwa, on behalf of the Ken and Angela Foundation, stated that the foundation noted the challenges of housing staff in hospitals serving approximately three cities and therefore intervened.
He said the foundation has provided vehicles and other medical logistics assistance to the hospital to improve the quality of medical care. He believes that the residential facilities will greatly encourage doctors stationed in hospitals to accept the position.

Mr. Gordon Anarfo, Ghana Health Services Region Real Estate Officer, representing the Regional Director of Health Services, thanked the Ken and Angela Ofori Atta Foundation for this move. He said the government alone could not solve the housing challenges facing the healthcare sector and praised the intervention of the Ken and Angela Foundation. He encouraged other organizations to join.
Dr. Richard Nii Darku Dodoo, medical leader of Kyebi Government Hospital, said the hospital has faced serious housing problems for many years. According to him, two of the four doctors at the hospital rented temporary accommodation in Asikam for a year. However, he said, “the newly appointed dentist has not yet been on duty due to homelessness.” He hinted that the hospital uses a lot of internally generated funds to rent apartments for “critical”employees, so the intervention of the Ken and Angela Foundation will help enormously to solve this problem.
Barima Gyansie Korie, representing Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, commended the Ken and Angela OforiAtta Foundation for providing the building to the Kyebi Government Hospital. He asked the hospital management to make sure the building is properly maintained. He promised that the Heritage Committee will continue to work with development partners to bring additional development to Akyem Abuakwa. The ceremony was attended by Abontidomhene from Kyebi Osabarima Marfo Kwabrane, Abuakwa South Health Director Augustina Nartey, some staff and managers, and members of the Kyebi Executive Committee.
