Four people were killed during what was suspected to be an attempted armed robbery in the early hours of Friday, September 3, 2021.

The incident happened at Denkyira Akwaboso in the Upper Denkyira West District, in the Central Region.

Confirming the incident to Dunkwa-based Solar FM’s Mohammed Din Radiu, the Upper Denkyira West District Police Commander, A.S.P Ernest Agyekum said they had information on Friday morning concerning the murder of some suspected armed robbers by some community members suspected to be belonging to the Community Watch Dog Committee.

According to him, no arrest in connection with the murder has been made but revealed that investigations were ongoing.

He further disclosed that all but one of the deceased suspected armed robbers has been identified as Atta, who is believed to hail from Asuadei, a neighbouring community in the area.

“So far the suspected robbers remain unknown except one, whose name, eye witnesses have given as Attah from Asuadei,” he said.

“Our primary investigation is to ascertain the perpetrators of the act and to find out whether the deceased persons are armed robbers.”

The body of the suspected armed robbers have been deposited at the Sefwi Bekwai Government Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy.
