Police investigating alleged case  of kidnapping in Dunkwa-On-Offin

Police in Dunkwa-On-Offin, the capital of the Upper Denkyira East Municipality have commenced investigations into an alleged case of kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl by an unknown group on Thursday, May 9, 2019.

The victim, Philipa Wadie, a JHS 1 pupil of the Pentecost Preparatory & JHS in Dunkwa-On-Offin says the group pounced on her, on her way back home after school had closed on Thursday.

According to her, they blindfolded her, grabbed her from behind and drove her away in an unidentified vehicle. Narrating her ordeal to Dunkwa TV, she revealed that the alleged kidnappers took her to an uncompleted building at Babianiha, a suburb of Dunkwa-On-Offin for reasons unknown to her.After several hours of crying for help, a mystery man, clad in a long white dress, popularly known as Jalabia with a grey hair and beard appeared at the scene to whisk her away.

A visibly terrified mother of the victim, Aunty Adwoa recounted the devastated state in which her daughter appeared and called on City authorities to beef up security in the area in the wake of wanton kidnapping cases in the country.She also urged parents to be more vigilant and guard against harm that may be inflicted on their wards.

According to her, a complaint has since been lodged with the Divisional Police Command where investigations have started in earnest.Dunkwa TV can authoritatively confirm that preliminary investigations by the Police revealed stray ladies underwear (panties) and other female dresses at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Municipality, Mr. Isaac Awuah convened an emergency security meeting with high ranking security capos in the  area to brainstorm on how to avert further cases of kidnapping. Speaking on the matter, Mr. Isaac Awuah urged  school authorities and parents to be more vigilant of strangers to compliment the efforts of the  security agencies.
